Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov Urges Countries to Reject Participation in Ukraine Conference

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on various countries around the world to reject participation in a conference being held in Switzerland on Ukraine on June 15 and 16, and not to succumb to Western pressure on this issue. This came in a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry - according to the "Russia Today" news website - following a meeting at the Diplomatic Academy on the problems of the Ukrainian crisis. Lavrov explained during the meeting that the confrontation has taken on global dimensions, as the West involves countries representing the majority of the world, trying to limit their interaction with Russia.

He called for not succumbing to pressure from the United States and its allies, and rejected the invitation to participate in the "peace summit" scheduled in Switzerland on June 15 and 16. Lavrov emphasized that the purpose of the event in Switzerland is "not to consider the possibilities of resolving the conflict over Ukraine, as we mentioned, but to formulate and present an unacceptable warning to Russia."
